Check if text sounds AI-written
This free AI content detector analyses writing patterns that are typical of AI chatbots. Human writing usually mixes short and long sentences (high burstiness) and uses less predictable word choices; AI text is often very even and full of stock phrases such as “in today’s fast-paced world” or “it is important to note”. The detector scores these signals and highlights each sentence so you can see which parts feel machine-made.
How to use it
- Paste the text (at least a few paragraphs gives the best result).
- Click Scan to see the AI probability, burstiness score and AI phrase count.
- Look at the colour highlights: red sentences show strong AI patterns, green sentences read naturally.
- Use Humanize to vary sentence length and replace stock phrases, then edit by hand.
Important: detectors are not proof
No AI detector is 100% accurate — including the big paid ones. Formal, technical or non-native English writing can look “AI-like”, and edited AI text can look human. Use the score as a hint for editing, never as the only evidence to accuse a student, writer or employee.
How to make writing sound more human
- Mix very short sentences with longer ones.
- Add specific details: names, numbers, places, your own experience.
- Cut filler phrases and generic openings.
- Use contractions and a natural, personal voice.
- Read it aloud — if it sounds like a brochure, rewrite it.

What the detector looks at
- Burstiness: people mix short and long sentences; AI text is often more even.
- Predictability: how expected each word choice is.
- Typical AI phrases: such as “in today’s fast-paced world”, “it is important to note” or “delve into”.
- Repetition of structures and transition words.
The result is an AI probability score with the reasons behind it.
Use it as a signal, not proof
No AI detector is fully reliable. Formal human writing, non-native English and edited AI text can all be misjudged. Never use a detector score alone to accuse someone — read the text and look at the context.
