Resize images to any size β€” online and free

This image resizer works like Photoshop’s Image Size and Canvas Size dialogs, but in your browser. Type the exact width and height in pixels, scale by percent, or set the print size in inches or centimetres with the DPI you need. High-quality Lanczos resampling keeps photos sharp when you make them smaller.

How to resize an image

  1. Drop one image or a whole folder of images.
  2. Pick a preset (Instagram post, YouTube thumbnail, Amazon main image, passport photo…) or type your own size.
  3. Choose Fit (keep everything, add padding) or Fill (crop to fill the size).
  4. Download one file or all images as a ZIP.

Pixels, DPI and print size

Screens only care about pixels. Printers care about DPI (dots per inch): for a sharp print use 300 DPI, so a 4 Γ— 6 in photo needs 1200 Γ— 1800 px. Enter the print size and DPI and the resizer calculates the pixels for you.

Resize to a file size

Many forms ask for images β€œunder 200 KB” or β€œunder 1 MB”. Set a target file size and the tool adjusts quality and dimensions to fit. For the smallest files without visible loss, also try our image compressor.

Resize by size or by percent

  • Percent: 25%, 50%, 75% to shrink, 150–400% to enlarge.
  • Exact pixels: type width and height; the πŸ”— lock keeps the proportions so the image isn’t stretched.

Four fit modes

ModeWhat happensUse it when
StretchImage is forced to the exact sizeProportions don’t matter
FitWhole image fits inside; empty space is filledNothing may be cut off
FillFills the size and crops the overflowProfile pictures, thumbnails
CanvasImage stays the same; the canvas grows around itAdding a border or white space

Common sizes

  • Instagram post: 1080 Γ— 1080 (square) or 1080 Γ— 1350 (portrait)
  • Facebook and LinkedIn link image: 1200 Γ— 630
  • YouTube thumbnail: 1280 Γ— 720
  • Amazon main image: at least 1000 px on the longest side for zoom

Bigger is not always better

Enlarging cannot add real detail β€” a small photo made 400% bigger will look soft. Resize from the largest original you have. To make a file smaller in KB rather than pixels, use the image compressor. Hold β€œBefore” to compare with the original.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will resizing reduce quality?

Making an image smaller keeps it sharp with Lanczos resampling. Making a small image much larger cannot add detail, so it may look soft.

Can I resize many images at once?

Yes. Drop several images, apply one size or preset, and download them all as a ZIP.

What is the difference between Fit and Fill?

Fit keeps the whole image and adds padding to reach the size. Fill crops the edges so the image fills the exact size.

How do I resize for printing?

Switch to inches or cm, enter the print size and choose 300 DPI. The tool works out the pixel size.

Are my images uploaded?

No, resizing happens in your browser.

How do I resize without stretching?

Keep the πŸ”— lock on, or use Fit or Fill mode, so the proportions stay the same.

Can I resize many images at once?

Yes. Drop several images and download them together.
