How to convert an hourly wage to an annual salary
Multiply your hourly wage by the hours you work in a week and by the number of paid weeks in a year: annual salary = hourly rate × hours per week × weeks per year. A full-time job is usually 40 hours a week for 52 weeks, which is 2,080 paid hours. So $25 an hour × 2,080 hours = $52,000 a year, about $4,333 a month or $2,000 every two weeks.
Hourly wages as yearly salary (40 hours a week)
| Hourly | Yearly | Monthly | Bi-weekly |
|---|---|---|---|
| $15 | $31,200 | $2,600 | $1,200 |
| $20 | $41,600 | $3,467 | $1,600 |
| $25 | $52,000 | $4,333 | $2,000 |
| $30 | $62,400 | $5,200 | $2,400 |
| $40 | $83,200 | $6,933 | $3,200 |
| $50 | $104,000 | $8,667 | $4,000 |
What about unpaid vacation and overtime?
If your time off is unpaid, lower “paid weeks per year” — for example 50 weeks if you take two weeks of unpaid leave. Regular overtime raises your yearly pay: add your usual overtime hours per week and the calculator pays them at 1.5× your rate.
Take-home pay after tax
Your salary before tax is not what reaches your bank account. In the United States the calculator uses the 2026 federal tax brackets, the 2026 standard deduction ($16,100 single, $32,200 married filing jointly, $24,150 head of household), Social Security (6.2% up to $184,500) and Medicare (1.45%). A single person earning $52,000 pays roughly $4,060 federal income tax and $3,978 FICA, leaving about $43,960 a year — around $3,660 a month before state tax.
In Pakistan it applies the FBR salaried income tax slabs for tax year 2027 (1 July 2026 – 30 June 2027). For example, a salary of Rs 200,000 a month (Rs 2.4 million a year) pays Rs 156,000 tax a year, or Rs 13,000 a month. For any other country, choose “my own tax %”.

The basic formula
Yearly pay = hourly wage × hours per week × paid weeks per year
At $25 an hour, 40 hours a week and 52 paid weeks: 25 × 40 × 52 = $52,000 a year, about $4,333 a month and $1,000 a week.
Quick reference (40 hours, 52 weeks)
| Hourly | Yearly | Monthly |
|---|---|---|
| $15 | $31,200 | $2,600 |
| $20 | $41,600 | $3,467 |
| $25 | $52,000 | $4,333 |
| $30 | $62,400 | $5,200 |
| $40 | $83,200 | $6,933 |
Make it realistic
- Unpaid weeks: if you don’t get paid holidays, use 50 or fewer paid weeks.
- Overtime: add regular overtime hours; they are paid at the overtime rate.
- Take-home estimate: choose your region, filing status, state tax and pre-tax savings such as a 401(k) to see an approximate net pay.
Take-home figures are estimates for planning; your payslip depends on your exact tax situation. Going the other way? Use the salary to hourly calculator.
