Create your signature online
Need a signature for a PDF, contract, invoice or email? This free signature maker gives you three ways: draw it with a smooth, natural pen on your phone, tablet or mouse; type your name in 16 handwriting styles; or upload a photo of your signature on paper and the background is cleaned away automatically.
How to make your signature
- Choose Draw, Type or Photo.
- Draw (undo/redo any stroke), pick a handwriting font, or upload your photo.
- Choose ink colour — blue or black looks most natural — and thickness.
- Download a transparent PNG or SVG, copy it, or sign a PDF directly.
Sign a PDF
Open a PDF in the tool, place your signature (and date) on the page, resize it and download the signed PDF — without printing and scanning.
Is an electronic signature legal?
In many countries electronic signatures are legally valid for most everyday agreements — for example under the US ESIGN Act, the EU eIDAS Regulation and Pakistan’s Electronic Transactions Ordinance 2002. Some documents (such as wills or property transfers) may still need a handwritten or certified digital signature. If in doubt, check with the other party or a lawyer.
Tips
- Photograph a paper signature in good light on plain white paper.
- Download PNG with a transparent background so it sits nicely on any document.
- Keep your signature file private — anyone with it could paste it.
Use it on invoices from the invoice generator and on letters from the letterhead generator.
Four ways to make your signature
- ✍ Draw: sign with your mouse, trackpad or finger. Adjust the pen thickness and ink colour — blue or black look most natural.
- ⌨ Type: type your name and choose a handwriting-style font.
- 📷 Photo: sign on white paper, take a photo, and the paper is removed so only the ink remains.
- 📄 Sign a PDF: open a PDF, place your signature on the page and download the signed document.
Downloads
- PNG (transparent): place it on Word documents, PDFs and invoices over any background.
- SVG: sharp at any size.
- JPG (white): for apps that don’t support transparency.
- Use in my invoices: saves it for the invoice, quotation and receipt generators.
Tips for a natural signature
- Sign a little slower than usual and larger than you need — it is scaled down.
- For the photo method, use a dark pen on plain white paper in good light.
- Keep your signature file private and only use it on your own documents.
An image of a signature is fine for everyday documents such as quotes and letters. Some contracts and government forms require a certified digital signature instead — check what is needed.
