Convert PNG to JPG and save space
PNG is perfect for graphics, but photos saved as PNG are often 5–10 times larger than they need to be. This PNG to JPG converter turns them into compact JPG files for email, websites and upload forms. Because JPG cannot store transparency, you choose which colour fills transparent areas — white by default.
How to convert PNG to JPG
- Drop your PNG images.
- Choose JPG quality (80–90% is ideal for photos) and a background colour.
- Check the preview and the new file size.
- Download one image or a ZIP.
When should you use JPG instead of PNG?
- Photos — JPG is much smaller with no visible difference.
- Email attachments and WhatsApp — smaller files send faster.
- Forms that only accept JPG or have a size limit.
- Keep PNG for logos, text and images that need transparency.
What happens to transparent backgrounds?
Transparent pixels are filled with the colour you choose. Use white for product photos and documents, or your website’s background colour for graphics. Want a transparent background instead? Convert to PNG or WebP with the image converter.
Why convert PNG to JPG?
- Smaller files: photos saved as PNG are often 3–10 times bigger than the same photo as JPG.
- Upload limits: many forms, job portals and marketplaces accept only JPG or limit file size.
- Faster sharing on WhatsApp and email.
What happens to transparency?
JPG cannot store transparent pixels, so they are filled with a background colour — white by default. Pick another colour if the image will sit on a coloured page. Logos that need transparency should stay PNG (or use WebP).
Quality setting
A quality of about 80–90% looks the same as the original to most eyes and gives a much smaller file. Text and sharp lines in screenshots can show artefacts at low quality, so keep it higher for screenshots.
Batch conversion
Drop a folder’s worth of PNGs, convert them all and download a single ZIP. The total size saving is shown before you download.
Need to go the other way, or to WebP? The same image converter handles every format.
