Remove an image background in seconds
This free background remover cuts out people, products, pets and logos automatically. The AI model runs inside your browser, so your photos are never uploaded to a server. When the automatic cut-out is not perfect — around hair, glass or a busy background — use the Magic Wand, Erase and Restore brushes and Refine Edge to clean it up, with undo and zoom like a photo editor.
How to remove a background
- Drop your photo (JPG, PNG, WebP or HEIC).
- Wait a moment while the AI finds the subject.
- Fix the edges with Restore (bring back parts) and Erase (remove leftovers).
- Download a transparent PNG, or choose a white, colour or photo background first.
What people use it for
- Product photos for Amazon, Shopify and Daraz — marketplaces such as Amazon require a pure white background for the main image. For complete product scenes with shadows try our product background maker.
- Profile pictures and passport-style photos with a plain background.
- Logos and signatures on a transparent background for documents and websites.
- Social media and thumbnails — place a cut-out on a bright background.
Tips for the cleanest cut-out
- Use a sharp photo where the subject stands out from the background.
- Shoot products on a plain surface with soft light to avoid hard shadows.
- Zoom in to 200% and use a small brush for hair and fine edges.
- Download PNG — JPG cannot store transparency.
PNG vs JPG after removing the background
A transparent background only exists in PNG (and WebP) files. If you need a JPG, choose a solid background colour first. To make the PNG smaller for a website, run it through our image compressor afterwards.
Two ways to remove a background
- ✨ AI Remove Background: finds the main subject — a person, product, pet or logo — on any background. The AI model (about 4.5 MB) downloads once and then runs on your device, so your photo is never uploaded.
- Quick Remove: for plain or studio backgrounds (white, grey, one colour). It is instant and gives very clean edges on product photos.
Fix the details
- Magic Wand (W): click an area of similar colour to remove or keep it.
- Erase (E) and Restore (B) brushes: paint away leftovers or bring back hair, fingers and fine edges.
- Refine edge: soften or tighten the outline so the cut-out doesn’t look pasted.
- Mask view: shows black-and-white what is kept, so small holes are easy to spot.
- Undo, redo and zoom for careful work around hair and jewellery.
Choose the new background
Download as a transparent PNG, or put the subject on white (for Amazon and Daraz main images), a brand colour, a blurred version of the original photo, or your own background image.
Tips for the best result
- Use a sharp photo with good light; blur and shadows make edges harder.
- Run AI first, then clean up with the brushes — it is much faster than doing everything by hand.
- For product listings, finish in the product background maker to add shadows and marketplace sizes.
