Convert video and audio files online
This MP4 converter turns iPhone MOV files, MKV and WebM downloads and old AVI videos into MP4 — the format every phone, TV and editor plays. When the video inside is already compatible it is re-packaged instantly without losing any quality; otherwise it is re-encoded in your browser. You can also make GIFs, extract the audio as MP3 and convert between audio formats.
How to convert
- Drop your video or audio files.
- Choose the output: MP4, WebM, MOV, MKV, GIF, MP3, M4A, WAV, OGG or FLAC.
- Optional: cut, rotate, mirror, resize or mute.
- Download one file or a ZIP.
Popular conversions
- MOV to MP4 — iPhone videos that won’t play on Windows or Android.
- MKV to MP4 — usually instant and lossless.
- Video to MP3 — save the audio of a lecture, interview or song you own.
- Video to GIF — short loops for chats and websites.
- Save frames — export any frame, or one every few seconds, as PNG or JPG.
Lossless vs re-encoding
A video file is a container (MP4, MOV, MKV) holding video and audio streams. If the streams are already H.264/AAC, the converter just moves them into an MP4 container — instant and with zero quality loss. Other codecs must be re-encoded, which takes longer.
Need a smaller file instead? Use the video compressor. Please only convert media you own or have permission to use.
Popular conversions
- iPhone MOV → MP4: plays on Windows, Android and every website.
- WebM or MKV → MP4: for phones, editors and social media.
- Video → MP3: keep only the audio of a lecture, song or podcast.
- Video → GIF: short animations for chats and websites.
- Video → images: save frames as PNG/JPG, or one frame with 📸.
- Audio: MP3, M4A (AAC), WAV, OGG and FLAC.
Fast when possible
If the video is already H.264 with AAC or MP3 audio, changing to MP4 just repackages it — it takes seconds and loses no quality. Otherwise the video is re-encoded to H.264 so it plays everywhere; this takes longer.
Options
- Trim start and end.
- Resolution and frame rate to make files smaller.
- Rotate or flip sideways phone videos.
- Mute to remove the sound.
- Audio bitrate for MP3 and M4A.
GIF tips
GIFs get big quickly. Keep them short (2–6 seconds), small (480 px wide or less) and at a low frame rate. A 4-second clip becomes a GIF of about 48 frames.
Works best in Chrome or Edge. Files are converted on your device — nothing is uploaded.
