Know your real Amazon profit
Many sellers only subtract the referral fee and FBA fee — and are surprised when the payout is smaller than expected. This Amazon profit calculator includes everything: referral fee, FBA fulfillment fee with the 2026 surcharge and peak fees, storage, inbound shipping, prep, advertising (TACoS) and returns. You see profit per unit, margin, ROI and monthly profit, plus a bar that shows exactly where your money goes.
How to calculate Amazon profit
- Enter the selling price and product cost (landed cost per unit).
- Add size and weight for FBA fees, or choose FBM and your shipping cost.
- Add ad spend as a % of sales, return rate and other costs.
- See profit, margin and ROI — and the price that gives the best profit.
Margin vs ROI
- Profit margin = profit ÷ selling price. Many sellers aim for 20–30% after all costs.
- ROI = profit ÷ product cost. A 100% ROI means you double the money you put into stock.
Costs sellers often forget
- PPC advertising — often 10–20% of sales for new products
- Returns and unsellable returns
- Storage, especially in Q4 and for slow sellers
- Shipping from the supplier to Amazon and prep/labelling
- Currency conversion when you get paid in another currency

How the profit is worked out
The calculator starts from your selling price and takes away every cost of one sale:
Profit = price − product cost − shipping to Amazon − prep − referral fee − FBA fee − storage − ads − returns − other costs
Ads and returns are entered as a percentage of the price, because they grow with the price. The result is shown three ways: profit per unit, margin (profit ÷ price) and ROI (profit ÷ what you paid for the product and inbound shipping).
Example with the default numbers
| Selling price | $19.99 |
| Product + shipping to Amazon | −$4.30 |
| Referral fee (15%) | −$3.00 |
| FBA fee (holiday peak, with surcharge) | −$5.53 |
| Storage | −$0.21 |
| Ads (8%) and returns (2%) | −$2.00 |
| Profit per unit | $4.95 — margin 24.8%, ROI 115% |
At 200 units a month that is about $990, minus the $39.99 Professional plan fee — the calculator shows about $950 a month.
Using it to make decisions
- Before ordering stock: enter the supplier price and see whether there is still profit after ads.
- Before a price cut: lower the price and watch the margin — a $2 discount often removes a third of the profit.
- Comparing suppliers: save each version with ⭐ and compare them side by side.
- Launch budget: the launch cost field spreads one-time costs (samples, photos, first ads) over your plan.
Good to know
Many FBA sellers aim for roughly 20–30% net margin after ads. Below about 15% there is little room for returns or a price war. If your margin is thin, check the break-even price and read how to calculate Amazon profit margin.
