Scanned PDFs
A scanned PDF is a picture of a page, so there is no text to copy. PDF to Word and PDF to text work best on PDFs created from a computer (where you can select the text). For scans, PDF to JPG keeps the pages as images.

PDF to Word: two modes
- Editable text: the text comes out as normal paragraphs you can edit. Best for letters, articles and simple documents.
- Exact look: each page keeps its appearance as an image — best when the layout matters more than editing.
Scanned PDFs
A scanned PDF is a picture of a page, so it contains no text to extract. Converting it to Word or text will give little or no text. Use the exact-look mode, or retype the important parts.
Private by design
All conversions run in your browser — your contracts, bank statements and IDs are never uploaded to a server. That also means very large files depend on your device’s memory; split huge documents into smaller parts if a conversion is slow.
