These figures assume a 12 pt font such as Times New Roman or Arial with 1-inch margins. Bigger fonts, headings, images and short paragraphs add pages. For printed books, use the book page count estimator, which works with trim size, font and line spacing.

Tips for accurate counts
- Old .doc, .ppt and .xls files: open them and save as .docx, .pptx or .xlsx (or PDF) first.
- Scanned PDFs are pictures of pages, so the tool counts pages but cannot read the words. Convert them with OCR first if you need a word count.
- Google Docs: download as Word or PDF, then drop the file here.
- For the most exact page count of a Word file, save it as PDF — the PDF shows the pages exactly as they print.
